PR 1 – Virtual classroom concept (VC) and curriculum for driver CPC
Result leading organization: DEKRA SE, Germany
Transferring training content to a virtual format does require a lot more than a mere move of the same contents, methods, and timeframe from a seminar room to the virtual classroom. Even though training and learning in a VC provide an experience like the physical one, it requires new pedagogical and didactical approaches and a redesign of the instructional model that includes characteristics such as a high interactivity, collaborative learning, learner-centered instruction, a variety of content presentation and learning activities, positive and constructive feedback as well as a psychologically safe environment. Unlike asynchronous distance learning environments, the synchronous VC allows for direct trainer-learner interaction, instant feedback, and engaging activities to increase motivation and active participation. Immediate communication favors relationship-building within the group. This is a form of learning particularly beneficial for the target group of professional drivers.
PR 1 represents a virtual classroom concept and curriculum for specific contents of the driver CPC. Training content elements of EU wide relevance will be identified based on an elaborated needs assessment in the context of the exploration phase. The concept and curriculum will be based on the learning outcomes approach, considering ECVET principles to ensure maximum transferability, usability and connectivity to other qualifications and form the necessary basis for the envisaged recognition at a later stage. The VC concept will identify specific didactical and pedagogical requirements for this training format and outline the necessary didactical approaches, methods, and techniques to be applied in this training. The result will be LO-oriented, certifiable, innovative and integrative VC-based common European curriculum for 4-5 modules.
